Fjord, Europe’s leading cross-platform design agency, is expanding across the Atlantic with the opening of its new North American office in New York.

Fjord has spent the past seven years establishing itself as a key player in Europe’s digital design industry, and has worked with leading industry players such as the BBC, HP, Nokia, Orange, Swisscomm and Yahoo!. Prashant Agarwal, Fjord's director of product strategy, has been appointed as the managing director of the New York office; he will commence his duties in March.

Prashant says, “There have recently been several strong signs that the application and service market is moving towards the U.S., with increased activity by Apple and Google in the mobile space. Fjord’s New York office, located in this vibrant hub of media activity, will be perfectly positioned to meet the challenge of this changing media landscape and help our clients create cutting edge and innovative cross platform solutions.”

Prashant has over 12 years experience in desktop, web and mobile products. In his current role as Fjord's director of product strategy, Prashant is responsible for helping clients develop digital services ranging from global mobile portals to social music services.

Before joining Fjord, Prashant was VP of product management for Refresh Mobile, an Accel Partners-backed start-up. Prior to Refresh Mobile, he held a number of senior positions with Yahoo!. Previous experience also includes roles with Dow Jones, CNET and Beyond.com. He also helped launch Techdirt Wireless – a popular daily wireless industry news blog – and was the co-founder of early mobile multimedia innovator Stick Networks.
