The Pentagram Award - David Hughes

An exhibition of work by illustrator David Hughes, this year's winner of The Pentagram Award. 14th July - 8 August 2003.

The Pentagram Award - David Hughes David was selected from the hundreds of talented graphic artists involved in the AOI’s (Association of Illustrators) Images 28 project, and for his outstanding contribution to the art of illustration.

David has described himself as ' . . a graphic designer who happens to illustrate'. He is in fact a multi-talented artist whose work encompasses illustration, graphic design and animation. He has worked for a wide range of clients including The Observer, The Times, Today, ES Magazine, The New Yorker, Esquire (USA), GQ (USA), the Washington Post Magazine, the Spoleto opera festival in Italy, and several leading publishing houses. In 1999 he received a D&AD Silver Award for Othello, a book he worked on with Ben Casey at The Chase.

An exhibition of his work is currently touring mainland Europe and will visit the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston, from 27 September to 16 November 2003. A book - David Hughes: Drawings - was published by Kerber Verlag in February 2003.

A private viewing is scheduled for Thursday July 17th.
