Purple, the leading recruitment consultant for the UK creative sector, has worked alongside Tag, one of the UK’s top design and production agencies, to produce an awareness campaign for Lifeblood, the Thrombosis Charity. The campaign kicks off with posters appearing in railway stations across Scotland. Posters are now rolling out in railway stations in Wales and London Underground stations leading up to National Thrombosis Awareness Week, running this year from 8th to 11th May.
Lifeblood was established in 2002 by a group of people who recognised the need to promote awareness about thrombosis and to increase understanding of its causes, effects and the treatment available. Thrombosis has been – and remains – a major cause of death in the United Kingdom but this fact is not widely known. Most people have little or no understanding about the causes and effects of thrombosis, and how it can be prevented.
Tag is responsible for the creative idea behind the campaign. Two executions have been created to particularly highlight the danger of sitting in front of a computer for a long period of time without a break.
Purple has been responsible for liaison with the charity during the development of the campaign, and it is the recruitment consultant’s chosen charity to support for this year. Carly Plewa, Social Media Manager at Purple, and Trustee of Lifeblood, lost her sister to the condition in 2009 and believes that anything to raise awareness of the danger of thrombosis is absolutely critical: “Thrombosis is a condition where people aren’t aware of the dangers and symptoms. It is a condition which kills 60,000 people each year in the UK regardless of sex, age or gender. Raising awareness in the public realm is crucial and the advertising campaign will go one step closer to highlighting the dangers of thrombosis. ”
Professor Beverley hunt, medical director of Lifeblood said: “Lifeblood is grateful to Purple and Tag for their invaluable support during this year’s National Thrombosis Week. Having them on side gives Lifeblood an extra boost as we work to raise awareness of thrombosis in the UK. Their commitment to our cause is much appreciated.”
The campaign will run until 13th May.
