Procurement solutions provider announces new Chairman and Business Development Director
London, UK: Leading print procurement solutions provider Paperhat, has appointed former CEO of office2office plc, Ray Peck, as its chairman. The appointment follows the announcement in late 2010 of a joint venture with production hub Gutenberg Networks UK, part of Omnicom.
Peck will lead the Paperhat board, working closely with Gutenberg Networks. The joint venture was designed to build the breadth and depth of the capabilities that each company offers clients, both in the UK and internationally. Peck’s primary role will be to identify and complete a series of acquisitions to compliment the current business. He will also help expand the range of services that Paperhat and Gutenberg Networks provide.
Peck has over 25 years experience in the print and office supplies industry. He was previously Group Managing Director of Guilbert Niceday Ltd and Managing Director at Corporate Express (UK) Ltd. Most recently he was responsible for creating office2office plc through the MBI of Banner Business Supplies, a national distributor of office supplies and print.
The successful £10m MBI was completed in December 2000, funded by Gresham LLP. Following a period of significant growth, acquisition and re-structuring, the business was listed on the London Stock Exchange in June 2004 with a market capitalisation of £64.9m.
In addition, Paperhat has also appointed Tom O’Donnell as its Business Development Director. O’Donnell brings vast experience of sales and marketing from all commercial sectors to the consultancy. He spent 17 years at Office Depot where he championed front-line sales, eventually becoming Divisional Director, responsible for new business.
O’Donnell’s experience will underpin the 2011 Paperhat strategic business development plan and allow the company to build on the venture with Gutenberg Networks.
Paperhat has been one of the leading independent procurement service specialists in the European print market for the last fifteen years. It has a supplier network of over 650 print production companies in twenty three countries.
Tony Rapacioli, MD at Paperhat, said: “We’re very privileged to have Ray and Tom join us. Ray’s experience of the print and office supplies industry will prove invaluable to the continuing success and growth of Paperhat. I am happy to report strong trading in 2010 and with Tom’s proven success in the sales and marketing arena, we look forward to accelerating growth in 2011.”
Peck added: “I am delighted to join Paperhat. The company is very professional, operates in an exciting market and its association with Gutenberg unpins its capabilities and strengths. I have great confidence in its future.”
Newly formed production specialist, Gutenberg Networks, has announced former founding partner of Salt, Simon Steel, as its business development director.
