The Leeds-based firm, achieved the highest star rating possible, and was officially named as one of the ‘3* Extraordinary Companies’ as well as being ranked 51 in The Sunday Times prestigious annual review of the UK’s 100 top small business employers.

Achieving their highest score for team spirit in the survey, Gratterpalm was also praised for its colleague engagement initiatives and wellbeing benefits, with 86% of its people loving working at the firm.

Its application detailed some of the agency’s initiatives including the launch of G Academy, a two-month paid internship for those with a hidden creative talent who want to pursue a career in advertising and ‘The Grafters’, Gratterpalm’s annual awards recognising individuals who go beyond the call of duty and totally live the values of the agency.

Helen Saunders, HR director at Gratterpalm, said: “Being one of only 84 companies in the UK – small or large - receiving the top 3* accreditation, in our first year of entering the awards, is amazing and builds on a fantastic 2010 for Gratterpalm when we were crowned ‘Best Company to Work For’ at the Yorkshire Post’s Excellence in Business Awards.”

“The creative industry often talks about people being its greatest asset, yet high employee turnover rates, burnout and job dissatisfaction are common. We are committed to fostering our people culture and this award is testament to the hard work that goes into making Gratterpalm such a great place to work.”

A survey of workplace opinion in the UK, The Sunday Times list of the ‘100 Best Companies to Work For 2011’, is derived from the views of employees and the policies and processes of employers.

As part of the awards’ process Gratterpalm was featured in a dedicated Sunday Times supplement and online campaign site and attended the awards ceremony in Battersea.
