Purchasing and Stock Control (Raw materials and Finished goods)

Job Objectives:
To optimise margins opportunities through a long term professional and proactive relationship with an existing and potential new supplier portfolio.
To ensure stocks are tightly controlled and kept at the appropriate levels.
To negotiate the best value prices and credit terms available.
Scope:
Financial
· Purchasing Manager £1 to £1.5 million of purchases per annum
· Stock control up to £200k raw materials and £150k finished goods
Key Responsibilities:
· Improve supply and manage stocks with existing suppliers through a proactive price/service relationship and a developed awareness of the trends in purchasing throughout the year.
· Ensure suppliers operate in accordance with agreed contractual terms and negotiate contractual terms where they do not exist in order to quantify the basis of the trading relationship and achieve best prices in the market.
· Co-ordinate the development and improvement of service and quality, by maintaining supply and tightly managing finished stock levels to meet growing customer expectations.
· Manage projects and developments within the business to support the relationship with the supplier and ensure the correct level of customer focus is achieved.
· Maintain a thorough knowledge of the market sector to better influence suppliers prices and lead times.
· Develop and maintain a professional supplier relationship to improve the flow of communication, understanding and increase loyalty of supply to the business.
· Provide accurate short, medium and long term forecasts as necessary
· Assist with monthly reporting and develop stock control systems
· Develop and maintain a stock control system for both raw and finished stock, which meets current and future business needs.
· Maintain current FSC and PEFC chain of custody accreditation system to ensure the certification is maintained.
· Deal with rejections and credit issues that arise.
· Supplier relations - checking on, deliveries and lead times.
· Product development with new suppliers and potential new products.

Key responsibility for the role is to ensure continuity of supply of stock for the production and sales team at best value prices, whilst maintaining product quality and optimum stock levels.
