Mascarilla, painted in oil is a personal piece I made to confront a common fear - death. The painting is a play on how death can be glamourized and to show the contrast of how something so ugly can be face to face with beauty. The skull is encrusted with jewels in an attempt to beautify death, but it's honesty is still present in the symbolism of the skull. Shannon Toth's portfolio.
