This is a parody piece on on the role of Royal Britannia in this year of Great British Celebration. It was inspired by an idea for a great Pimms drinks advertisement. I wanted to choose something that represents the Great British Empire of old, this being a classic stiff upper British lip of a drink, So I picked the strongest of female figures, Royal Britannia herself, taking a well earned break after centuries of colonial conquest, sitting back, and taking a relaxed overview of the woes of the economy and struggles of a nation, happily sheltered in her beautiful English garden view window, enjoying a lttle drink. I think it is a very British feeling that we have this presigious history that somehow protects us from all the troubles of the world, but ironically we all suffer the same afflictions.
