Mad Cow is a piece that was started as character development for an ad agency, Wren & row. Once the job was over I decided to put the characters together for a self promotional illustration. I start by developing many characters by sketching on tracing paper. I then scan them in to photoshop where I begin experimenting with light and color. From this point it's just a constant push and pull of values. To me this is the real beauty of illustration, it's like watching a child grow. Jason Hawkins's portfolio.
