Marlin at Dusk Marlin at Dusk
This was a proposed book cover which had to have action combined with a romantic feel to it. Hence the setting sun over a tranquil ocean, but the Marlin very much in motion.
Reference for the marlin was a digital shot of a museum piece in the wilds of Hertfordshire. Hopefully, I have brought it back to life!
The majority of the illustration was produced on Illustrator, combining opacity masks, gradients, feather effects and the mesh tool. The illustration was finished off in Photoshop as the ocean needed to be integrated with the setting sun using filters and smudge tool.
I have had very positive comments from clients, browsers on my site, and from veiwers of the artwanted site.
